Tony Rice - Guitar God

NEW See Tony Rice YouTube playlist

What can I say... I'm an unabashed Tony Rice fan. There's something about the integrity, anthenticity and solid drive in his playing and singing that I never grow tired of. In fact, I think his music just sounds better with more listening. I've heard more than one fellow musician describe his unique quality as a mix of "power and grace." It's also obvious that he gets great joy out of inspiring the musicians he plays with to push as far and high as they can. Oh, and did I mention he's an honorary North Carolinian now? What more can I say... LB - 04 Apr 2003

"What is it about Tony Rice? I have loved his music since the first time I heard him play with I was 16. The role of the guitar in bluegrass is so often misunderstood, and its impact on the banjoist, who shares all the sixteenth notes with him, is tremendous. The quality of those sixteeenths, how may parts straight eighths, how many parts swing - these combine to make it possible to get that magic feel, so rare, so rare. How many musicians can make everyone around play better, all the while disappearing into the fine tapestry of the fabric of the music? Not many!" - Bela Fleck
